WMA & WINCOM
Communication Web-to-Host
This emulation software runs on the user workstation for connection to mainframes in Web-to-Host mode.
User workstation
- WMA users have quick, easy access to the company information system using their browser or directly through Windows (Windows emulators).
- WMA provides uniform emulation of terminals, comprising all emulation functions: screen, printer, file transfer, macro language, etc. Thanks to its user-friendly interface, WMA integrates perfectly with office automation workstations and Internet applications: adjustable toolbars, programmable keyboard, keyword management (hotspots), etc …
Centralized administration
- The centralized administration of WMA (Windows server) provides for secured management of all users and communications services with central applications.
- User profile management is based on Microsoft Active Directory or the Windows SAM database.
Managing the WMA installed base is simple: deployment and update is automatic on user workstations (either integrated or using Microsoft MSI components). - Communications may be supervised and logged for statistical and invoicing purposes.
- Most importantly, WMA administration can be learned quickly and easily.
Network and security
Direct communications with the market’s main central sites:
• Central systems: IBM S/390, Bull DPS 7x, 8x, 9x
• Departmental systems: IBM AS/400, UNIX, Bull DPS 6, z/OS.
There are several security levels available, in two categories:
• Securing of exchanges between the client workstation and the WMA server, thanks to the identification of the client workstation and utilization of the HTTP protocol,
• Securing of exchanges between the client workstation and the central site to which it is connected, by means of the Winsurf
Security Server (WSS) gateway or the Telnet SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocols.
Architecture
The WMA architecture is based on the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) web server. This client-server architecture ensures performance during load increases. The WMA Advanced option makes it possible to implement solutions with load distribution among several WMA servers and recovery following incidents. This solid architecture provides for setting up lightweight clients (Citrix Metaframe, Microsoft Terminal Server, etc.). The WMA data can be stored in external SQL databases.
WMA JITR HTML Web-to-Host Communication
These emulation components run on an application server, with mainframe screens presented to the users in HTML mode.
WMA permits access to host system applications simply by using a browser: the green screens are automatically converted to HTML by the WMA server. This means that central systems are accessible to external or occasional users. All users can immediately use central information from their own PC, Mac, Linux or Unix workstation, or even from their palmtop computer running under Windows CE, without needing to download any software.
Specific prerequisites:
• Client workstation using «on the fly» HTML conversion.
• Any workstation with a browser that supports HTML 3.2
WMA Java Components Intégration Java
- This emulation component runs on an application server and enables the integration of mainframe data with Web-based business applications.
- It is designed for software publishers, integrators, software and systems houses or developers who want to expand the scope of their solutions or applications by incorporating the data hosted on IBM zSeries or Bull GCOS 7/8 central systems, or on IBM iSeries departmental systems, Unix servers.
- WMA Java Components (WMA JC) consists of a set of Java connectors to central sites and Java APIs that comply with the OHIO standard. OHIO (Open Host Interface Objects) is an object-oriented programming interface defined by IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). WMA Java Components integrates with object-oriented programming.
- The Java applications that utilize transactions with central applications may be run in an open environment: J2EE application server, web server or Java client workstation.
- The TN3270 and TN5250 connectors in WMA Java Components include support for authentication and SSL encryption.
- Quotium makes its engineering teams available to support you during the development process.
Winsurf Integration Development Integration Windows
- This emulation component runs on an application server and enables the integration of mainframe data with web-based business applications.
- It is designed for software publishers, integrators, software and systems houses or developers who want to expand the scope of their solutions or applications by incorporating the data hosted on IBM zSeries or Bull GCOS 7/8 central systems or on IBM iSeries departmental systems, Unix servers.
- Winsurf Integration Development (WID) consists of a set of ActiveX components developed in compliance with Microsoft COM architecture with the ALI interface. WID makes it possible to design new business applications that integrate central system resources without modifying them. In addition to the connection, data reception and transmission management functions, the WID components are capable of returning data from the central site directly in HTML format.
Winsurf Integration Development integrates with applications with Microsoft Active Server Pages. - The operating environment is open: Microsoft Internet Information Server web server and Windows client workstation.
The TN3270 and TN5250 components include support for authentication and SSL encryption. Security may also be ensured with Winsurf Security Server. - Quotium makes its engineering teams available to support you during the development process.
